Testimonies for Baptism in 2008 Easter Sunday

Kristen Chan:
Before I accepted Christ I was really mean and unfriendly to people. Even my cousins wouldn’t play with me. I was 4 years old at the time. During a trip to Seattle, my mom told me the reason why they wouldn’t play with me was because I was sinning by being mean and I didn’t have God and salvation in me. She told me about Jesus Christ and how He died on the cross for me. I understand that I need to repent for my sins and ask for forgiveness so I could go to heaven and live with God. Like Romans 3:23-34 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” So we sat down and talked. My mom helped me pray and repent right then at my grandparent’s house. I accepted Christ as my Lord and Savior there. My mom also taught me how to be good and respectful to others. During the conversion, I felt that God was helping me change into a better person already. After I accepted Christ, I became kinder and nicer towards other people. I realize this is cannot be accomplish by my own. God helped me become responsible and careful for my actions. I am certain now that I was saved because I put all my trusts in God and I know He is guiding me through all the good and hard times I face. God will help me change and be more like Him.

Emily Hui:
Hello everyone, my name is Emily Hui. Before I accepted Christ, I was a different person. I was kind of mean to most of my friends like not sharing with my stuff to them and calling them mean, hurtful names. At church, I was scared to pray in front of everyone, thinking that I would say something untrue. To the adults or my elders, I sometimes disobeyed them and maybe even ignored them.
My parents brought me to Church since I was born and I started to learn Bible when I was four. On April 1st 2003, I was sitting on the ground with my mom reading that little booklet called “Jesus Loves You!” When I first started reading it, I didn’t feel like I needed to be serious. As soon as I finished, I was amazed by God’s great love. I learned that God is Love which says in 1 John 4:11-12, “Dear Friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” I also learned that once I become part of God’s family, I will get a gift from God- the eternal life, which says in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” I was touched by these bible verses. I prayed, asking God to forgive my sins and told my mom that I was ready to take Jesus Christ as my savior.
After I accept Christ, I have many good changes. I am not scared to pray out to public that much, I obey my elders often, I stop calling my friends awful names, started getting more generous to them and I learn how to love others. Today I am certain that I am saved and thank God for all these great and wonderful changes.

Evita Fok:
My dad moved to America when I was four months old. It was really upsetting because I haven’t been able to “see” him until the age of 2. Unfortunately, he passed away, due to leukemia, a week after I arrived. The only thing I remember was when my dad died my family and I was in a temple and his body was under a glass. Since then I’ve always been jealous of other kids when I see them happily playing with their dads. One example is when I went to one of my best friend’s house and her other friend’s dad was there playing with her and everything seemed so happy. I was also angry with God and I would always ask “why me? Why did it have to be my dad?”
Sometimes I cry over this matter and blame myself. I thought it was because I was very difficult to take care of when I was a baby, and maybe since I was such a burden I kept him up all night and he might die because of me. I always thought I created trouble for everyone.
I accepted Christ when I was eight years old. One night, I was about to sleep, but something inside me wanted to pray first, so I did. I decided to pray for forgiveness and repented. I also accepted God as my savior and admitted I was a sinner. After I prayed, I felt safe and really comfortable; the verse John 3:16 was in my mind.
(John 3:16) “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that who ever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
After I accepted Christ, I still felt a little jealous; but about a year later, I finally understood that God has a better plan for me. I stopped worrying over the fact that my dad died and I realized God is my father; after that I started to open my eyes to see the good thing around me rather than focusing on the bad events. When ever I was scared, worried, stressed, or confused, I would always remember 1 Peter 5:7.
(1 Peter 5:7) Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
I am certain I am saved because in Acts 16:30-31 the jailer asked Paul and Silas “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied,”believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved.”
